Soda Blasting By Aqua Magic uses baking soda and calcium carbonate for effective graffiti and the removal of various surface damage and/or markings caused by the environment or build up over time.
This process normally does not impact the substrate from which graffiti is to be removed. Aqua Magic Mobile Wash uses our soda blast ing method for graffiti removal from brick, concrete, wood, asphalt and street signs.
The environmental nature of the blasting method coupled with the low-pressure blasters makes soda blasting an excellent alternative to many of the more traditional methods of graffiti removal such as sandblasting and a chemical method that uses solvents, acids and caustics.
Aqua Magic Soda Blasting is also effective in removing smoke and fire damage from wood joists and bricks. Baking soda environmentally friendly, is 100% water soluble and is bio degradable.
Safety and Health is a priority for Aqua Magic's services as we utilize the highest care in the removal and disposal of toxic elements related to the industry. Health concerns are dependent on the variety of paint to be removed. Inhalation of lead and zinc chromate based paints can lead to irritation of the respiratory system. Some lead compounds are carcinogenic. Solvent based paints can irritate the lungs and mucous membranes. Prolonged exposure can affect respiration and the central nervous system. Because of the noise and dust produced, a sodium bicarbonate stripping system will be operated in an isolated area outdoors or indoors in a confined or remote area. Our staff wears double hearing protection, an air hood blast helmet with an air supplied respirator and optional half mask (for systems that generate a large amount of dust) or a full faced air purification respirator with HEPA filters; and protective clothing required by the process being used.
Significant reduction in the amount of hazardous waste generated compared to chemical stripping
Reduces the number of hours required for paint stripping in comparison to chemical stripping, thus reducing/eliminating worker exposure to toxic chemicals
Selectively removes individual coating layers
Prewashing and masking usually not required
No size limitations for parts being stripped
Waste water stream may be centrifuged to reduce its volume or treated (if required) at industrial waste water treatment plants available to many installations
Blast media is usually less expensive than PMB, wheat starch and CO(pellets)
